Mockument (Anne Frank) 2005

Drawings installation; used school-plywood boards, 12 drawings - pencil on paper. dimensions: 100*70 cm each.
with a group of 11 high-school art pupils from Alon High School, Ramat Hasharon.
exhibited at Alon Gallery Ramat Hasharon 2005 and at Beth Hatefutsoth Museum, Tel Aviv. 2009, Drama of Identities exhibition Curator: Irena Gordon.

Memory meets drawing in the process of the collaborative project Mockument:
the work started with a Xerox blow-up of Anne Frank’s portrait photo that inspired a 100*70 cm drawing in which I invented a drawing method that produced the mechanic effect of a “human-printer”.
Like in a "telephone" children game, I gave my first drawing to the first participant with a set of instructions - dry and bureaucratic list - how to copy/transfer the graphic information to a similar next blank page I provided. after finishing his drawing, I stored mine (hid it "in the attick") and he would give his onwards, to the next participant who wold copy the second drawing onto a new similar blank page according to the same technical instructions. and so the drawings were produced as copies of copies transferred from one to the other. The final result was a “group-portrait” of 12 Anne-Franks that gradually mutated into abstraction. The project represented the way an idea or a myth is passed on from person to person, through generations, education, media, and reproduction.
